Privacy Policy

Summary

You can play the whole of Cricket Golf without telling us who you are. The app never asks for your phone number, contacts, location or photos, and creating an account is optional: if you choose to, we keep the email address or the Apple or Google sign‑in you use for it, so your games and record come back on a new phone.

Four things involve data leaving your device for every player: unless you buy the upgrade, the app shows ads (Google AdMob), the app records anonymous usage and crash information (Google Firebase), online play and the leaderboards store game data on a server, and your progress is backed up so a reinstall does not wipe it. Each is described below.

We never sell your data, and you can delete your account and everything held against it at any time.

Information stored on your device

The app saves the following locally, using your device's standard on‑device storage:

• Whether you have completed the introductory walkthrough.
• Your daily puzzle progress and scores.
• Your solo statistics: games played, personal bests and streaks.
• Whether you have purchased the “Unlock World Cricket” upgrade, so the app remembers your purchase between sessions.
• An anonymous account identifier, kept in your device's secure keychain so that reinstalling the app does not lose your progress.

Deleting the app removes this local copy. Note that your solo statistics are also backed up to the server, as described under Progress backup below.

Advertising

Players who have not purchased the upgrade see ads served by Google AdMob; the upgrade removes them. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (the IDFA on iOS, the Advertising ID on Android) to select ads and measure how they perform.

In the UK and the EEA, the app shows Google's consent form before personalised ads are requested, and records your choice. Where consent is not given, or the form does not apply, the app requests non‑personalised ads instead. Ads are capped at a PG content rating.

On iOS, the IDFA is only available to advertisers if you have allowed tracking for the app. If you have not, ads are still shown but are not personalised. You can change this at any time in Settings under Privacy & Security › Tracking. On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in your device settings.

Google's use of your data when ads are served is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Cricket Golf does not receive or store the advertising identifier itself.

Analytics and crash reporting

The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand which parts of the game are used, and Firebase Crashlytics to find out why the app has crashed. Both are active by default.

Analytics records anonymous events such as a round starting or finishing, a daily puzzle being solved or failed, an online match being created or joined, and a purchase completing, along with basic figures about the game itself (for example the number of players or holes). Firebase also collects standard device and app information such as device model, operating system version, app version and approximate country. These events are not linked to your name, because the app never asks for it.

Crash reporting records the crash itself, the state of the app at the time, and a short trail of the actions leading up to it (for example “app: cold start”). This exists so a crash can be fixed, and is not used for any other purpose.

Both are provided by Google and governed by the Firebase privacy documentation.

Online play and leaderboards

Online matches, the PCG Tour, Super Over and Nearest the Pin leaderboards store the following on a server so that games and rankings work:

• An anonymous account identifier generated by the app. No email address, Apple ID or Google account is linked to it unless you choose to create an account, as described below.
• A display name you choose. This is shown publicly to other players in shared games and on the leaderboards, so choose a name you are happy for other people to see.
• A push notification token, used only to tell you when it is your turn. It is not used for marketing.
• Game data: the moves, scores and results of online games, and your leaderboard entries (holes completed, strokes, score against par, runs, and the guesses or picks that made each day's score).

This data is stored using Supabase. It is not sold, and it is not shared with third parties beyond what is needed to run the game.

If you create an account

Creating an account is optional, and the game works fully without one. It turns your anonymous identifier into an account you can sign in to again, so your online games, leaderboard entries and record follow you to a new phone. If you create one, we also keep:

• If you use an email address: that address. You sign in with a one‑time code we email to you. There is no password.
• If you use Sign in with Apple or Google: the identifier that service gives us for you, and the email address it shares with us. With Apple this can be a private relay address that hides your real one.
• Optionally, a country and a cricket club you choose to add to your profile. These are shown to other players, alongside your display name.
• Whether you want occasional news by email. This is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off again at any time in your profile.

We use your email address only to sign you in and, if you have turned news on, to send you the occasional update. If you sign in on a device that already has anonymous progress, that progress is moved into your account rather than being lost.

Where your data is kept

Online games, leaderboards, profiles, accounts and the progress backup are stored with Supabase, in London in the United Kingdom. Advertising, analytics and crash reports are processed by Google, as described above. Everything else stays on your device.

Progress backup

Your solo statistics are backed up to the same server against your anonymous identifier, so that reinstalling the app or changing device does not wipe your record. The backup holds your own play figures only: games, scores, streaks and personal bests, and your daily streak. It is restored only onto a device with no local progress of its own.

Purchases

“Unlock World Cricket” is a one‑time in‑app purchase, processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play, depending on where you installed the app. Cricket Golf never sees or stores your payment details, and refunds are handled by whichever store took the payment.

To restore a previous purchase, the app asks that store whether your account owns the upgrade. No additional personal data is collected in the process.

Deleting your account and data

From version 1.7 of the app, any player, with or without an account, can delete everything held about them from inside the app: open your Profile and tap Delete my account. This removes your account, profile, email address, leaderboard entries and progress backup straight away. If you signed in with Apple, the app also asks Apple to revoke the app's access to your Apple ID.

Online games you have played are also part of your opponents' history, so those games stay with them, with your seat shown as “Deleted player” and nothing that identifies you.

On any version, you can also ask us to delete your data, or to send you a copy of it, using the contact details below. We keep your data only while you use the app.

Children

The app is suitable for a general audience and ads are capped at a PG content rating. Creating an account is optional, and we do not knowingly collect an email address from a child under 13, or any other personal information from children beyond what is described in this policy. If a child has created an account or entered a display name you would like removed, contact us and we will remove it.

Your choices and rights

• Reset or delete your device advertising identifier, and change your tracking permission, in your device settings.
• Turn off push notifications for the app in your device settings.
• Change your display name, country and club in the app, or ask us to remove them.
• Hide yourself from the leaderboards with the switch on the leaderboard screen.
• Turn news emails on or off in your profile.
• Delete your account and data in the app, or ask us to delete the data held against your identifier, including your leaderboard entries and progress backup.

Depending on where you live (for example the UK or EU under UK GDPR and GDPR, or California under the CCPA) you may have further rights over your data, including to see, correct or move it. In the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

If you have not created an account, the app holds no name or email address, so we may need you to open the app and tell us your account identifier before we can find your records.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new “last updated” date.
